Kiwi 100% Pure Fruit Spread
KIWI (Actinidia chinensis)
Originating in southern China, the Chinese used it as a tonic for children and women after childbirth due to its high nutritional value, but never truly enjoyed it as a fruit. Cultivation spread in the early 20th Century when seeds were transported to New Zealand. The local Chinese name for the fruit (yáng táo) was replaced with "kiwi fruit" as it supposedly shared physical characteristics with the kiwi (a bird), New Zealand's national symbol. Interestingly, Italy is now the leading producer of kiwi fruit.
Fresh kiwi fruit is rich in vitamin C and vitamin K, it's a good source of fibre and vitamin E.
